Prefab Insert Systems
A factory-built firebox and flue system wrapped in LP-built masonry surround and chimney. The prefab firebox is UL-listed and built to precise draft specifications — the masonry work creates the aesthetic. This approach is more cost-effective than full masonry construction and allows greater design flexibility in the chimney and surround.
Full Masonry Construction
Brick, stone, or CMU firebox and chimney built entirely from masonry materials. Full masonry fireplaces are heavier, more permanent, and require substantial footings — but they last indefinitely and have a thermal mass that holds heat longer. LP coordinates structural footing design with a licensed engineer when required by the scope.
Stone Veneer Surrounds
Natural stone or manufactured stone veneer applied to a structural CMU or concrete block substrate creates an authentic stone fireplace appearance at lower material and labor cost than full stone construction. LP uses natural basalt, granite, and regionally sourced stone veneer — or manufactured stone products matched to the home's exterior materials.
Gas Fireplace Systems
Direct-vent gas fireplace inserts installed in LP-built masonry surrounds. Gas fireplaces offer instant on/off, no chimney cleaning, and operation during burn bans. LP installs the masonry surround, mantel structure, and cap, and coordinates with a licensed gas contractor for the gas line and insert installation.
Outdoor Kitchen Integration
An outdoor fireplace becomes the anchor of a full outdoor kitchen and living room when paired with a masonry counter, grill station, and seating area. LP designs outdoor fireplace placement and orientation in relation to the outdoor kitchen layout, prevailing wind direction, and seating area sightlines — so the fireplace creates warmth and ambiance rather than routing smoke into the conversation.

Cast stone or metal chimney caps, crown coats, and flue liners protect masonry fireplaces from North Idaho's freeze-thaw cycles and winter precipitation. A properly detailed chimney crown and cap extend the fireplace's lifespan significantly and prevent water infiltration that leads to mortar joint failure.
